What Is Art Journalling??

And why is it good for our wellbeing?

We think of a journal or a diary as somewhere we give 'voice' to our inner most
thoughts and feelings. Often things we wouldn't normally discuss with others.

Artists however use journals to keep a note of drawings, ideas for paintings,
photos etc - basically anything that inspires them - all in one place.

So imagine combining aspects of your personal journal/diary with mindful art techniques - doodle drawing, pointillism (dot painting), collage or even adult colouring - to create beautiful, mindful art journals that are personal and unique, giving you something positive to focus and reflect on.

This approach - using art as therapy rather than art therapy - works well for those
dealing with anxiety, depression or other stress related conditions.

Art Journalling for Wellbeing Group is based in Wokingham, Berkshire UK catering to all
who are interested in learning more about how art can beneficial to our health & well-being.

This group was created in 2019 after several short college courses were held around the
Wokingham borough. People were clamouring for a weekly group on a more long term basis.

At this time we have a weekly session running with the hope to set up more as 2022 progresses.

FAQs

*What facilities are available?
Our Thursday afternoon group meets at Wokingham Library which is
now located in the new Carnival Hub on Wellington Road.

There is ample parking & it's also close to public transport links.
There is also a Costa coffee shop on-site meaning you can
get your caffeine hit at the same time if you wish!

*What materials do I need to bring?
Any art materials that you like working with. We do provide basic materials such as
paper & pencils etc but most students prefer to bring their own stash!

As no one student has the same materials we ensure all sessions are
